Yun & The New Definition (Y&D) is a Chinese music jazz fusion band established in 2014 by singer, composer and arranger Yun Huang. Yun makes soulful music that is both soothing and intriguing, embracing both Yun's traditional roots and contemporary inspirations.
Since its establishment, Y&D has performed extensively in the Greater Boston area, in venues including the Red Room 939, John Hancock Hall, Berklee Performance Center and the Ryles Jazz Club. In November 2014, Yun and the band manager Zhen Tian (Jenny) were interviewed by VATV, a Vietnamese America-based TV channel. In January 2015, Yun and pianist Jesse Taitt completed a tour (6 cities, 9 shows) in China. Their performances were highly recognized. Several weeks after, Yun was invited to perform on a well known national TV channel, Guangzhou TV. In 2016, Yun and the New Definition performed as the opening band in the famous award-winning multi-woodwind player Yazhi Guo’s “Master Guo” sold out concert.
In September 15th to 25th 2017, Yun and the New Definition had a successful tour in 8 cities in China including performing at the world-known famous Jazz Club Blue Note Beijing and at JZ Jazz Club ShangHai.
