Yun Huang is an internationally acclaimed Jazz/Chinese Fusion Artist, currently based in NYC.. She started recording as a singer at a very young age. She has recorded and released 9 albums as a member of “Green Swallows” from 1999 to 2005 and two solo albums in 2004 and 2005. To further broaden her musicianship, she studied composition, arranging and performance at the Berklee College of Music, and completed a Performance Degree. As a versatile performer, she sings in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and she plays the trumpet and the piano. Her sound is a blend traditional Chinese folk and contemporary jazz / soul music.
During her studies at in Berklee and the year following graduation, Yun has performed in music events in New England and beyond, including “Roots and Gospel in Gardner Museum”, “2013 Lunar New Year Concert in Berklee Performance Center”,“Newport Folk Festival 2013”, “Newport Folk Festival2014”, “Ivy League Spring Festival Gala 2014” “Ivy League Spring Festival Gala 2016" and shared stage with Yo-Yo Ma, Eugene Friesen(four-time Grammy Award-winner), Sandeep Das(two-time Grammynominee), Mike Block, and Hozier (2015 Grammy Nominee),Yazhi Guo (award-winning multi-woodwind player), David Fiuczynski (well-known contemporary jazz guitarist).
In 2015, Yun did her first China Tour, comprising 9 shows in 6 major cities with pianist Jesse Taitt. The show was widely acclaimed and quickly attracted media coverage by local media. Yun was then invited to perform in the Chinese New Year Celebration 2015 Concerts broadcasted on GDTV.
Yun now is based in New York, has toured and performed in concerts and events over the country (Hololulu, Hawai; Pennsylvania; Rhode island; Washington D.C; Boston; New York and more).
In 2018-2019, Yun has been very active on New York stages and has participated Festivals (such as The 29th. Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in NY, Echo Music Festival, The 3rd. TACADA Music & Art Festival ) and featured worldwide projects and concerts with famous artistes such as Candy Lo (HongKong), LuoQi(China), Shino Lin (Taiwan), Fred Cheng (HongKong). She also got invited as the only Chinese guest Artiest preformed in The 6th. World Youth Congress of JiangMen 2019 in Las Angles, CA.
